Connected to the ECM by the wiring harness, the sensors detect and convert changes in pressure, temperature or mechanical movement into electrical signals. The electrical signals are sent to the ECM. The ECM uses information such as desired engine speed, and load to determine the fuel injection pressure, timing and duration. Based on sensor inputs, the ECM actuates the individual unit injectors to control engine speed.
